NSW and Victoria see jump in daily COVID-19 cases
New South Wales and Victoria have both recorded a jump in daily COVID-19 cases as the nation's three-dose vaccination rate continues to inch higher.
In the 24-hour reporting period NSW recorded 13,018 new COVID cases – up from 9,017 the day prior – and five additional deaths.
For the same period Victoria recorded 7,043 new COVID-19 cases – up from 5,645 the day prior – and six additional deaths.
Both states recorded the majority of positive cases from the self-reported results of rapid antigen tests performed at home.

Queensland records more than 4,000 cases
Queensland has recorded 4,397 new COVID-19 cases, up from 3,677 cases recorded the day prior.
Five additional deaths were also recorded as a result of the virus.
The state is now managing 29,544 active cases of COVID-19, 268 of which are receiving treatment in hospital.
Queensland ICU wards are treating 20 patients with COVID-19.

National three-dose vaccination rate inches higher
The number of Australians who have chosen to receive a third dose of a COVID-19 vaccine continues to inch higher despite a number of COVID-19 restrictions falling away.
In NSW 55.8 per cent of people aged 16 and over have had three vaccine doses – including booster shots and standard third doses for immunocompromised people.
In Victoria 61.1 per cent of people aged over 18 have received three vaccine doses.

National figures, which do not report third doses as a percentage of population, now show that more than 11.8 million people have had three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.
Currently the national figure for two doses (formally recognised as "fully vaccinated") sits at 94.6 per cent, making Australia one of the most highly-vaccinated nations on Earth.
Australia is currently administering around 20,000 vaccine doses per day on average.
