'It was just my day': country cricketer pulls off rare feat

A Victorian cricketer has pulled-off a remarkable feat, claiming all 10 opposing wickets for just nine runs.

Second Eleven cricketer Steve Esler dismantled Thorpdale single-handedly on Saturday.

"Look I don't think there's any advice, I think it's just pure luck," he said.

Mr Esler took ten wickets in total, six of them bowled, two LBW and two caught.

His demolition lasted eight point one overs and also included a hat-trick.

The opposition was all out for just 29 runs, figures worth celebrating as Morwell declared at 104.

It was only after the eighth wicket when ten looked achievable for Mr Esler.

"I sorta felt sorry for the other bowlers because obviously they were trying to bowl but weren't trying as hard to get a wicket," he said.

Mr Esler became the third club member to claim a ten wicket hail, falling short on the club record by two runs.

"I've probably bowled better spells in the past and taken no wickets, it was just my day."
