Saying "I Do" at Victoria's marriage registry wasn't the big-day Melbourne couple Mattia Rosi and Lucie Groen-O'Connor were hoping for.

But it's now among the only options for those wanting to tie-the-knot in these uncertain times.

"I'm devastated. I'm actually a celebrant as well and that was actually the most unromantic wedding I've ever done in my life," Lucie told 9News.

Wedding restrictions are set to come into place due to the coronavirus pandemic. Nine

New restrictions will ban more than five people from attending a wedding.

"Our wedding has definitely changed from what we planned, even having a prosecco and cake is going to be through a screen and digital interactions, it's really sad," she said.

To make matters worse, groom Mattia's family couldn't attend as they're locked down in Italy.

"My mum and my dad were supposed to fly over ten days ago," Mattia told 9News.

Lucie's mother and father were in attendance today and the couple made the most of the unusual wedding.

"It's our marriage, and we're married - and we're happy and it's about what we mean to each other, not about who is in the room," Lucie said.

"Nothing stops love."
