Victoria continues virus-free streak as restrictions ease in time for long weekend

Victoria has continued its virus-free streak with no new cases of locally acquired COVID-19 recorded in the past 24 hours.

Today marks 17 days of no community transmission for the state.

Three cases were diagnosed in hotel quarantine and more than 15,000 people were tested overnight.

The news come as Victorians enjoy the long weekend with eased coronavirus restrictions announced yesterday.

Restrictions on household gatherings have now reverted back to pre-New Year's Eve measures with 30 people now allowed in a home.

Border restrictions have also relaxed with Greater Sydney - with the exemption of Cumberland - now classified as an Orange zone.

Travellers will still need a border pass to enter the state and must receive a COVID-19 tested within 72 hours of their arrival in Victoria.

People from Brisbane will also be allowed into the state under the same conditions.

Western Australia is also opening its doors to people from NSW and Queensland from Monday.

Travellers will still need to self quarantine for two weeks before they are allowed to move about freely.
