Vasco da Gama passengers end 14 day quarantine period

The 14-day isolation period has ended for passengers in quarantine from the Vasco da Gama cruise ship, docked off the WA coast.

As of 4.30pm local time, passengers will be free to move around the city after spending 14 days in isolation in a hotel.

The WA Department of Health is liaising with other agencies and airlines to try and help interstate travellers get home despite limited flights out of WA.

"We want to reassure people who have been in isolation we will make the transition back home as smooth as possible," WA Health Minister Roger Cook said.

Minister Cook did warn it may take some days to get all those passengers to their respective states of origin.

"In the coming days we will see a number of people given the opportunity to return home and we wish them the best," Minister Cook said.

Eleven new cases were confirmed overnight in WA bringing the state total to 506.

Of those 506, a total of 191 are so far linked to cruise ships, 203 cases have recovered recovered and 34 patients are currently still in hospital; 17 of whom are in Intensive Care.
