Another truck driver tests positive to COVID-19 in South Australia

A truck driver who returned to South Australia from New South Wales has tested positive to COVID-19, health authorities have confirmed.

The man, believed to be in his 60s, returned from NSW yesterday and tested positive to the virus in Yamba at 9pm.

SA Chief Public Health Officer Professor Nicola Spurrier said that so far, six exposure sites had been linked to the man and a number of close contacts identified.

The man had been tested in NSW before leaving the state, where he returned a negative result. He was later tested again in SA, where the result was confirmed to be positive.

Ms Spurrier said he is in "very, very early stages of his infection" and had received one dose of a Pfizer vaccine.

Details on exactly who the man had come into contact with are still being ironed out, Ms Spurrier added, but it believed that he had worn a mask in all public areas.

She confirmed that he lives in a share home with tracers having already made contact with a number of his housemates.

They have best tested, but their results are yet to be received.

They will be moved into medi-hotels while they complete their quarantine.

"There may be some additional people…who reside at the residence, but I don't have that number at the moment," Ms Spurrier said.

An additional case that was reported in the state today in a woman who had returned from overseas.

She is in a medi-hotel and does not pose any risk to the community.
