No community transmission recorded in NSW overnight

New South Wales has recorded no community transmission of coronavirus overnight, meaning borders will reopen with South Australia tonight.

This marks the second day in a row with no community transmission of COVID-19.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian commended today's numbers but warned there will "still be bad days ahead".

"While there were no locally acquired cases recorded in the past 48 hours, the virus is likely still circulating and it is imperative anyone displaying mild symptoms get tested immediately and not delay their test," Ms Berejiklian said.

The last time NSW had consecutive days without community transmission was July 3, 4, and 5.

Six new cases were recorded in NSW in the last 24 hours, with all in hotel quarantine.

There are now 74 active cases in the state with three in intensive care.

A total of 55 people in NSW have died from the virus.

"The last unknown source of infection was September 7," Chief Health Officer Kerry Chant said.
