Coronavirus: Generous man hands out cash to workers outside Centrelink Box Hill
Hundreds of jobless workers queued outside a Centrelink office in Melbourne's east became overwhelmed with gratitude after a generous man handed out cash from his own wallet in a random act of kindness.
The good Samaritan, John, gave each person in line at Centrelink Box Hill a $100 note.
He told 3AW he saw the heartbreaking queues forming outside Centrelink offices on the news and he had to do something to help.
"It made me sick to the stomach," he said.

"These people need instant pain relief. They can't wait for tomorrow or the day after.
"Their Centrelink payments aren't until next week. They need to put food in the table tonight."
Thousands of Victorian workers have lost their jobs or been temporarily stood down amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The job losses come as hospitality, sporting, entertainment and beauty venues - including restaurants, cafes, bars, nightclubs, gyms and indoor sport centres have been forced to close to slow the spread of COVID-19.
John said they could not have been more appreciative of the good deed.
He urged other wealthy Australians to follow his example and donate cash relief to jobless workers outside Centrelink offices.
"My heart just goes out to these people who are really suffering," he said.
"The gratitude, the tears in peoples eyes, it was unbelievable."
