Coronavirus forces closure of Brisbane KFC restaurant

A fast-food chain has been forced to close one of its Brisbane locations after a worker tested positive for coronavirus.

The KFC store at Deagon, on Brisbane's northside, displayed signage on its doors which read: "the restaurant is temporarily closed today".

In a statement to 9News, KFC confirmed one of its team members had tested positive for COVID-19.

"A team member from our Deagon restaurant has tested positive for COVID-19," a KFC spokesperson said.

"The health and wellbeing of our team members and customers is our number one priority, especially in these uncertain times."

Other staff members were also advised to self-isolate for 14 days as a precaution.

"We've closed the restaurant until further notice and all employees exposed to the team member have been asked to self-isolate," the spokesperson said.

"We're working closely with Queensland Health authority and are following their recommendations.  Our restaurant will remain closed until we're certain that there are no health risks for our employees or customers."
