Coronavirus by postcode data reveals NSW's coronavirus clusters

The NSW government has released raw data of coronavirus cases sorted by postcode, showing how some have become hotspots for the disease.

There's many clusters of the virus outbreak across the state, but an outsized number of them are in expensive Sydney suburbs or beachside destinations.

The Bondi epicentre

The coastal suburb of Bondi has 95 cases of the disease.

Dozens of cases cases come from the Boogie Wonderland party, an event held at the Bucket List bar in Bondi on March 15.

Another 14 have been linked to a restaurant in the suburb called Bondi Hardware.

In neighbouring suburbs, Bronte has 15 cases, Clovelly and Randwick have 20 and Bondi Junction has 28.

The cluster has prompted the opening of a specialised COVID-19 testing clinic in Bondi.

Within hours of opening on Tuesday, the pop-up had tested more than 100 people.

"If you are living or working in Bondi Beach or Bondi Junction and have a fever or history of fever or symptoms like a cough, shortness of breath or sore throat you can visit the clinic and be tested. The tests are free," NSW Health said in a statement.

"This pop-up clinic is a particularly important testing centre for young backpackers staying around Bondi as we are seeing a number of cases in this community."

Northern Beaches

The even more affluent beachside suburbs on the other side of Sydney Harbour have seen serious clusters of coronavirus breakout.

In the high-priced suburb of Mosman, there have been 30 confirmed cases. In neighbouring Cremorne, there have been 14 cases.

In Manly, 18 people have the disease.

Elsewhere in Sydney

Cronulla is another hotspot for the illness, with 24 confirmed cases.

Neighbouring Caringbah has 14 cases.

An outsized number of cases have been reported in Surry Hills and Darlinghurst, with 27 confirmations.

In Paddington, 23 people had been diagnosed.

In nearby Bellevue Hill, one of the most expensive suburbs in Australia, 29 people had coronavirus.

Out west, Blacktown has had 23 cases, and the neighbouring postcode taking in Westmead and Wentworthville has had 29.

The Central Coast

The Central Coast is shaping up as another hotspot for the disease, with close to a hundred cases reported.

Gosford had 27 reported cases, and the postcode that takes in towns like Tuggerah and Wyong had 18.

The postcode that includes Copacabana, Macmasters Beach and Avoca Beach had 17 cases.

Yet neighbouring Woy Woy had just six cases, indicating that clusters are perhaps not expanding geographically at this point.

Twenty cases have been reported in Cessnock and its surrounding areas.
