Sydney hazard reduction burn

A controlled fire is burning on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.

NSW Fire and Rescue (NSWFR) and the National Parks and Wildlife Service are carrying out a hazard reduction burn at Dobroyd Head, near Balgowlah.

A spokeswoman for NSWFR said the burn off would continue into the evening.

She said some minor spot fires had started but had been extinguished by firefighters.

Residents are urged only to call triple zero if they see an unattended blaze.
