Contestant makes astonishing guess on Wheel of Fortune

It was just about the most difficult question a person could receive on Wheel of Fortune.

But US contestant Emil walked away with US$45,000 (A$50,000) with a correct answer so unlikely, it's mind-boggling.

On the final round of the long-running game show, Emil was asked to fill in the blanks on the puzzle phrase "NE- ---- -----".

Emil was given 10 seconds to make as many guesses as he could to solve the phrase, but nailed it on the first try.

After the astonishing answer, seen in the above video, he was patted down jokingly by host Pat Sajak to dismiss the suggestion he was cheating.
