Missing Gold Coast toddler reunited with parents as grandfather is charged over alleged abduction

A Gold Coast toddler whose disappearance sparked an Amber Alert this morning has been reunited with his parents, and his grandfather has been charged with his alleged abduction.

The two-year-old boy went missing from Mudgeeraba about 4pm yesterday, and police issued an alert about his disappearance earlier today.

He was found after a driver spotted the four-wheel-drive the Amber Alert had described, and alerted police.

Officers arrived at Snapper Rocks in Coolangatta about 9am today and arrested the boy's 43-year-old grandfather at the scene, with a police officer also picking up the boy.

The boy's grandfather has since been charged with abduction of a child and failing to ensure a child was in a child restraint.

He is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow.

The boy's parents told 9NEWS they were grateful for help from the public and relieved their son was found safe and well.

"It's just a relief really, yeah, he ran back up to me and said 'Dad'. It's just a good feeling," the boy's father said.
