People have made a citizen's arrest after a driver allegedly ploughed through a fence and into a home in Brisbane.

A car allegedly lost control on Maranta Street in Alexandra Hills yesterday, damaging two cars, a garden shed and a fence before slamming into a home at 10pm.

"We came out and saw [it] - all the neighbours were out," resident Sophie Western said.

"Everyone was out here. It was just a bit crazy."

The 26-year-old driver allegedly tried to flee the scene until neighbour Mark stepped in.

"He wasn't getting away that's for sure," he said.

"[I] held him down until the police came, gotta do what you gotta do."

The driver was treated by paramedics at the scene. He was not seriously injured.

Police told 9News that car was not stolen.
