CCTV shows cigarette thief target Melbourne petrol station

Police are working to identify a thief who jemmied open the front doors on a Melbourne petrol station and stole a large quantity of cigarettes.

The man, who was captured on CCTV, used a metal pole to force the front doors of the Blackburn North service station on October 19.

Once inside, the man opened a locked cabinet and removed the doors which held a large amount of cigarettes before leaving in a white ute.

The man is described as Caucasian with a medium build and was wearing several gold chains around his neck.

He was wearing a light-coloured jumper with the word 'Bronx' written on the front, a balaclava and dark pants at the time of the alleged robbery.
