Christie Beach attack: Alleged attacker found hiding nearby
Police have made a dramatic arrest after a major manhunt in Adelaide's south.
At about 12pm this afternoon officers swooped on a vacant property in on Castle Street, Christies Beach, arresting a 33-year-old man after a woman was viciously bashed at a house less than 400 metres away.
“This is unbelievable. Honestly it just makes you wonder what the world is coming to,” local resident Gordon Hill told 9News.
The suspect was loaded onto a stretcher and taken out to a waiting ambulance before being transported to hospital.
The nature and extent of his injuries are not yet clear.
Police had been searching for the man since about 8am, when emergency services found the woman with multiple injuries at a home on Cocking Rd.
The suspect fled the scene before police arrived.
Patrols cordoned off the street, with officers on trail bikes also scouring the area.
The 31-year-old woman, who police say is known to the man, was treated at the home before being taken to the Flinders Medical Centre in a serious but stable condition.
