Child dies in house fire in Alice Springs

A child has died in a fire in the Northern Territory.

The child was found unconscious by firefighters inside a burning house at Larapinta in Alice Springs around 10.30am this morning.

They performed CPR before an ambulance took the child to Alice Springs Hospital.

Firefighters were responding to reports that someone was trapped inside the building.

The child did not respond to medical treatment.

Crime and fire investigators are now trying to determine what caused the blaze.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
