Traffic chaos on Melbourne's West Gate Freeway after car burst into flames

A car fire on a busy freeway has sparked traffic chaos for commuters in Melbourne this morning.
The vehicle was fully engulfed in flames when authorities arrived at the Kings Way exit off the West Gate Freeway.

It's understood the car burst into flames after smashing into a barrier on the freeway.
The incident forced the closure of the Kings Way off ramp, which has now been reopened.
Officials say traffic is heavily banked up in the area and motorists have been warned to expect delays.
Ambulance Victoria spokesman Paul Bentley said paramedics were called just after 5.30am and took one person to St Vincents Hospital in stable condition.
