Queensland Premier Campbell Newman is back on home turf in his Ashgrove electorate, and promised a total of $10.66 million in two minutes today to make sure it stays his home ground.

He promised government support for a number of local projects including $5 million for expanding the youth club and $3 million for the Enoggerra State School.

This was on top of the $114 million he had already spent holding up support in a seat where it could all come tumbling down.

"That is what people get with a strong plan, a strong LNP team and myself as local member," he said.

Mr Newman today also doubled the apprenticeship scheme, making room for another 26,000 trainees, and over six years, hundreds of thousands of jobs.

He hopes to shave Queensland's 6.9 per cent unemployment rate.
