Call for plantations to access green fund
AAP
Federal Environment Minister Josh Frydenberg is talking to industry about the possibility of plantation forests coming under the government's emissions reduction fund.
The issue was raised by an MP at the coalition joint partyroom meeting in Canberra on Tuesday, triggering a debate about extra industries that could be covered by the fund which is holding $816 million out the $2.55 billion first allocated.
Mr Frydenberg told MPs there were ongoing talks with the plantation forest industry and fund auctions were planned for November and early 2017.
