Queenslanders swelter through record September temperatures
Queensland has experienced an early taste of summer, with temperatures soaring across the state and breaking heat records.
Many residents opted to head outdoors today, with families flocking to the beach at Southbank to cool off, as the mercury rose to the mid-30s across the state's south-east.
Others opted to hit the local ice skating rink to cool off amid the hottest September day since 2017.

Records were also broken along the coast of Coolangatta, which had its hottest September day in 38 years.
"Temperatures are up to 10 degrees above average for September," Bureau of Meteorology senior meteorologist Harry Clark said.
"Certainly very warm conditions across Queensland.
"That's helping also fuel high fire dangers for numerous districts."
A southerly change is due to hit the Gold Coast tonight between 7pm and 8pm (AEST), while the heat is not expected to ease in Ipswich around 9pm.
Temperatures are predicted to be cooler tomorrow and across the weekend.
