Melbourne man shot in 'targeted attack'

A man has been shot in what police believe was targeted attack in Melbourne's north-east. 

Responding to reports of gunshots on Bourke Street in Bulleen about 10.30pm yesterday, police discovered a man in a vehicle suffering gunshot injuries.

"The circumstances surrounding the incident, which is believed to be targeted, are unclear however investigators are looking into whether the man may have been speaking to people just prior to the incident," a police spokesperson said.

Investigators are also working to determine if a burnt out car located nearby in Templestowe is connected to the shooting.

State Anti-Gangs Division are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppers.com.au.
