Series of Brisbane businesses on same street broken into with axe

Businesses across several Brisbane suburbs have been targeted in a string of early morning smash and grabs involving what appears to be an axe.

Several places were broken into and vandalised in north Brisbane between October 13 and 16 and police believe the incidents may be linked.

Cynthia Phan, the owner of Le Bon Choix Bakery on Racecourse Road in Ascot, told 9News she was left distressed after her cafe was targeted.

"We were devastated, we're doing it tough as it is, it's just one more thing to add to the list," Phan said.

Jan Laus from vegan cafe Dicki's, also located on Racecourse Road, said the series of robberies on the same street was "obviously very intentional".

Hooded offenders were captured on CCTV smashing their way through windows and doors with an axe or large hammer, before making off with cash.

Between the early hours of 3am to 4am October 16, six break-ins took place at businesses on Racecourse Road.

Queensland Police said it was also investigating four break-ins between 11.45pm October 13 to 1.15am October 14 which occurred at businesses on Kingsford Smith Drive, Eagle Farm.

At about 2am the same day, a petrol station on Braun Street in Deagon was the victim of an attempted break-in.

There was also a possible attempted break-in on October 14 at a business on Lavarack Avenue in Pinkenba.

The following evening, a business on Lutwyche Road in Lutwyche was targeted by one more attempted break-in at about 10.30pm.

Nobody was injured in the incidents.
