Woman charged after allegedly setting man alight in Perth

A woman has been charged after allegedly splashing a 57-year-old man with petrol before setting him alight in Perth earlier this week.

The man was walking on Cranford Avenue in Brentwood about 10.45pm on Monday night when the woman allegedly ran up to him.

Police allege she doused the man with a clear flammable liquid before setting it alight and running from the scene.

The man suffered burns to a large portion of his chest and stomach but managed to drive himself to a service station in nearby Como for assistance.

He was taken to hospital for treatment.

Detectives have since charged a 34-year-old woman from Brentwood with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

She is due to appear in court today.
