CCTV has emerged of a heated brawl involving at least 20 people on Melbourne’s bustling Chapel Street, which left one man seriously injured.

Emergency services were called to the Prahran hot-spot following reports of a fight about 1am yesterday.

Video shared by Victoria Police shows one man kicking another in the head, before darting across the road.

Moments later, a shirtless man and at least three others can be seen weaving between cars as they continue to fight.

During the melee, a 30-year-old man sustained head injuries and was taken to The Alfred Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Two other men, both aged 29, were transported to hospital with minor injuries.

Detective Acting Sergeant Katie Johnston described the incident, which may have involved two groups, as "extremely vicious".

"It's unfortunate you get particular males who decide to go out on Chapel Street and spoil it for the rest of us," she said.

Investigations are ongoing, with any witnesses urged to come forward.

"We're working with the footage we have to identify the males," Det. Act Sgt Johnston said.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000
