A witness of a brawl at a junior rugby league game in Brisbane which left a father needing surgery claims the man who sparked the fight was "throwing people like dolls."

Redland Bay woman Amanda told 4BC's Neil Breen she was at the match between Wynnum Manly and Logan Brothers at Kitchener Park in Wynnum on Sunday when the "atrocious" fight happened.

Father Josh Jones needed surgery after being kicked in the head during the fight, which involved up to 20 people and broke out in front of 100 kids and spectators.

It is believed to have been sparked when Mr Jones asked an official to stop a man from shouting from the sidelines, which is not allowed.

Witnesses alleged a man then put Mr Jones in a headlock and beat him.

A video emerged of the fight at the under 13's match, but Amanda claimed it was more widespread than the footage shows.

"That video doesn't depict what really happened, because there was more in the grandstand before it even spilled out to the field," Amanda told 4BC.

"There was kids flying, I saw a lady almost get knocked out, and no one could stop this guy.

"He was literally throwing them like dolls."

She tried to help Mr Jones, applying ice to his face after the attack.

Amanda does not believe the man who initiated the fight was the person asked to stop shouting from the sideline.

Authorities are now looking for the 36-year-old Logan man who allegedly started the fight.

He is suspected to have fled the scene with his son in a silver car.

Queensland Rugby League is understood to be investigating.
