Boy on bicycle hit by car in Sydney’s east

A boy has been hit by a car while riding his bicycle in Sydney's east this afternoon.

The driver of a silver Toyota Corolla stopped to help the 11-year-old boy immediately following the crash at Daceyville, approximately 7km southeast of Sydney's CBD.

The boy's bicycle was crushed under the weight of the car's front tyres.

The nature of his injuries are currently unknown but paramedics say his helmet prevented more serious injuries.

He was taken to Sydney Children’s Hospital with leg injuries.

The driver has undergone mandatory drug and alcohol testing.
