Bishop condemns Iranian terror attack

Foreign Minister Julie Bishop has denounced the terror attacks on the Iranian parliament and Ayatollah Khomeini's mausoleum in Tehran.

Islamic State has claimed responsibility for Wednesday's attacks which killed at least 13 people.

"We extend our deep condolences and sympathy to the victims and their families, and the Iranian people," Ms Bishop said.

Ms Bishop has spoken to Australia's ambassador in Tehran who has confirmed that all embassy staff are safe.
