Bank hearings may be more than once a year

The chairman of parliament's economics committee has warned bank executives they may need to come to Canberra more than once a year for a grilling by MPs.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull announced earlier in August the nation's big four banks will have to front parliament every year to improve their accountability.

But committee chair David Coleman told Sky News on Tuesday it was "not out of the question" it could be more than once a year if there were unresolved issues and further questions needed to be asked.
