Baldwin renominates for Paterson seat

Federal Liberal MP Bob Baldwin has dismissed rumours of his retirement by renominating to stand in the NSW seat of Paterson.

The 60-year-old former frontbencher will face a challenging fight in Paterson, which after a significant redistribution is a notional Labor seat.

"When people started putting rumours out there about my retirement ... they were greatly over-exaggerated," Mr Baldwin told ABC radio on Friday.

"I'm determined to win."

Mr Baldwin, who was demoted after Malcolm Turnbull seized the leadership in September, said if re-elected he would take his electorate's majority view to the Liberal party room.

"I'll stand up for them more than the Liberal party," he said of his voters.

Labor has yet to decide on a candidate for Paterson, but it's possible opposition frontbencher Joel Fitzgibbon could stand after his neighbouring seat was abolished in the redistribution.
