Baby Groot steals the show in new 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' trailer

Social media is buzzing in response to the latest trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 which was released earlier today, because of one tiny character.

Actor Chris Pratt took time out of his busy schedule promoting his latest film Passengers to release the new trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, featuring the adorable Baby Groot.

"Hey Guys, just wanted to take a moment away from promoting Passengers and talk about something very dear to my heart. Because sometimes you just have to forget about promoting movies for a second and do something positive," the star wrote.

"Please watch this trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2."

Baby Groot, the tiny tree-like alien, who helps Pratt’s character and their odd-ball superhero gang save the universe, has won over the hearts of people from across the globe with his short appearance in the trailer, running off playfully with an atomic bomb and kicking some serious villain butt.

The lovable character quickly trended on Twitter. 

The second film in the franchise welcomes back Pratt as the enthusiastic hero, Star-Lord, Zoe Salanda as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Bradley Cooper as Rocket and Vin Diesel as Groot.

It is expected to be released in cinemas on May 5 next year.
