Australian honours by numbers
AUSTRALIA DAY HONOURS BY NUMBERS
* 837 people recognised, down from last year's record of 1127.
* Order of Australia Honours include: five Companions of the Order (AC); 59 Officers of the Order (AO); 224 Members of the Order (AM); 549 Medals (OAM).
* Women received 348 honours (41.6 per cent), the highest percentage ever, topping last year's record-high percentage by almost five per cent.
* Almost 45 per cent (375) of awards were for outstanding service or achievement in the community.
* The oldest recipient is 97. The youngest is 19 years old.
* 15 recipients have previously received an award in the Order.
* 69 per cent of nominated women and 71.3 per cent of nominated men were recognised with an award.
* The categories recognised with the most awards were Community (375), Medicine (63) and The Arts (62).
* In the categories of dentistry, IT, transport and vet science, every nominee was recognised with an award.
