Man charged, another on the run after gunfire in southwest Sydney
A man has been charged while another remains on the run after gunshots were heard on a southwest Sydney street yesterday.
Police were called to Sixteenth Avenue in Austral about 11.05pm on Thursday, responding to reports that gunshots had been heard in the vicinity.
Neighbours told 9News that they heard shots ringing out "one after the other."

A short time later, police received another report that a hatchback had crashed on Craik Avenue, with two men allegedly running from the scene.
"I heard a large loud bang and I came down and saw a car there on the road and a car on the footpath," one local told 9News.
Another resident said he sprung into action when he saw one person running from the crash.
"I saw the guy running that way and gave chase and barefooted...I think I'm gonna get him, then I hit gravel and I can't run on gravel barefoot," he said.
CCTV also captured a man running down the street following the alleged shooting.
When police arrived, they found bullet casings and a fuel canister inside the abandoned vehicle.

Police enquiries revealed the same vehicle had been reported stolen.
An empty pistol magazine was located on nearby Seventeenth Avenue.
Police then located a 30-year-old man on Fourth Avenue about 11:35pm.
He was taken to Liverpool Police station, where he was charged with firing a firearm at a dwelling house with disregard for safety, possessing loaded firearm in a public place, driving conveyance taken without consent of owner and dishonestly interfering with a vehicle identifier.

The man was refused bail and will appear before Parramatta Local Court tomorrow.
The family who lived closest to the shooting have been forced to leave as detectives investigate.
Police said there were no reports of injuries or property damage at this time.
Police investigation into the alleged gunfire is continuing.
