'Leave him in jail': Man arrested after fires lit near Adelaide homes

A man has been arrested after three fires were allegedly deliberately lit near homes in south Adelaide.

Police believe three fires near Scottsdale Road and Glasgow Street were lit around 10.30pm overnight.

"Can't believe someone would be so stupid to do something like this," resident Andrew said.

"Knowing that people and houses are just so close.

A young man was seen running from the fires carrying a backpack.

Police arrested a man at a nearby home a short time later.

A 21-year-old Christie Downs man has been charged with three counts of arson and one count of causing a bushfire.

He was refused bail to appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on Monday.

Resident Allan said whoever was guilty should be put in jail and left there.
