Anzac Day tweets to be archived

Australia's World War I heroes used carrier pigeons to convey their messages and now, a century on, we're being encouraged to "tweet" in their honour.

The Australian War Memorial wants people to use the hashtag label #AnzacDay on their tweets of commemorative events and activities in their local communities on Saturday.

The tweets will be collected and archived for future generations to get a glimpse of how Australians commemorated the 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli landings.
