New major entry rule for Aussies flying into three Indonesian airports

Australians planning a getaway to Bali and two other major Indonesian destinations face a new entry rule from today.

All international travellers entering the country via three major airports will need to fill out an All Indonesia declaration card.

The paperwork will be mandatory for passengers arriving at Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta and Juanda International Airport in Surabaya.

This will be extended to all other airports in Indonesia from October 1.

What is the new All Indonesia Arrival Card?

Indonesia has introduced the All Indonesia Arrival Card to streamline immigration, customs and health procedures into a single form.

The requirement is designed to replace the multiple separate forms previously required for international visitors.

The process does not replace visa requirements.

Travellers can apply for the e-Visa on Arrival (e-VOA) only after submitting their All Indonesia declaration card online, at least 48 hours before their travel to Indonesia.

What information do I need to fill in?

Travellers applying for the All Indonesia Arrival Card are required to fill out their personal information and travel details in an online portal.

Travellers also need to make health and customs declarations.

Once travellers submit the form, they will receive a QR code via email which must be shown to immigration officials.

How much does the All Indonesia Arrival Card cost?

The All Indonesia Arrival Card is free to complete.

However there is a charge when entering the Indonesian holiday hotspot Bali.

All foreign travellers arriving in Bali will need to pay a "tourist tax" of about $15.

Visitors can pay pre-emptively online, providing their passport number and date of arrival.

Visitors will also be able to pay at the airport on arrival, with the government pledging more than 20 officers to handle queues.
