Man charged after police track stolen car using Find my iPad app
An alleged car thief has been arrested after police successfully tracked an iPad through Adelaide’s eastern suburbs using the Find my iPad app.
Police allege a black BMW X5 was stolen from a property on Marion Road, Payneham about 7.45pm yesterday.
The car owner’s iPad was inside the car at the time and the Find my iPad app was switched on, allowing the victim to provide police with details of its current whereabouts.

Patrolling officers located the BMW on Shakespeare Avenue, Magill and a police pursuit was initiated through The Gums before officers lost sight of the vehicle.
The iPad was then tracked to Felixstow in the city’s northeast, where it allegedly crashed through a garage door at a property on Briar Road.
A short time later, police located the vehicle in a nearby vacant block with the alleged car thief in the driver’s seat.
The 32-year-old man was arrested and charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle, drive in a manner dangerous, trespassing and resisting arrest.
He was refused bail and will appear at Adelaide Magistrate’s Court today.
