Adelaide man blinded in vicious road rage attack

An Adelaide student has been blinded in one eye after a vicious road rage attack at the weekend.

About 11pm on Saturday, the 25-year-old who doesn’t want his identity revealed, was travelling with a friend on Glyde Street in Albert Park, northwest of Adelaide, when he was involved in an accident with another vehicle.

When he got out to assess the damage and exchange details, two men that were travelling in the other vehicle got out and became aggressive.

“They were shouting ‘You’re f---ked man what have you done?’,” the victim told 9News.

“He hit me… only one punch… that is bit nasty. That is bit nasty punch.”

His friend immediately called triple zero as nearby residents came to help.

“I tried to talk to the people, but they were very, very angry,” witness Sandy Knights told 9News.

“I mean he had blood literally dripping down his face,” she added.

The victim was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, but was later transferred to Royal Adelaide Hospital for emergency surgery.

“They said I lost my vision and that I couldn’t see the world with my left eye forever,” he said.

The victim remains in hospital and is undergoing extensive rehabilitation.

Doctors have advised him he may require further surgery in the coming weeks to assist the recovery process.

“I thought that I had a very brilliant future but all of a sudden, the completely written page has turned into a white page,” he said.

Police are now investigating the assault as well as the crash.
