Adelaide man hit with fresh charges for allegedly plotting terror attack

An Adelaide man has been accused of plotting a terror attack by amassing weapons, explosive material and key tactical information.

Artem Vasilyev is currently behind bars accused of terror-related offences however fresh charges have been laid today.

It is alleged between July and September last year the now 25-year-old imported, manufactured and possessed weapons, documents and explosive substances in preparation for planning a terrorist act.

He is also accused of seeking out two specific documents titled "Strategic Attack on National Electrical Systems" and "Resistance to Tyranny".

Police allege both documents were part of Vasilyev's terror attack preparations.

Australian Federal Police raided the home Vasilyev shared with his mother in September last year.

Following the raid, Vasilyev was charged with more than 10 terror-related offences and 11 counts of possessing instructions to make an explosive device.

Police also found a .22 calibre rifle and a semi-automatic weapon as well as a high-powered gun which police believe Vasilyev made himself with a 3D printer.

Vasilyev was deemed an extreme risk to the community due to his highly advanced cyber skills and was refused bail. 

He will return to court next month where he is expected to enter pleas to all of the charges laid against him.
