Man charged after alleged carjacking, rooftop stand-off in Adelaide

A man has been charged after allegedly stealing a car before a rooftop stand-off with police in Adelaide.

Police were called to the intersection of St Ives Drive and Tamir Road in Parafield Gardens at 2.20am after reports two men robbed a rideshare driver of his vehicle.

The two men allegedly threatened the driver with a knife and forced him out of the Toyota sedan, before driving off towards Salisbury Highway. The man was not injured.

Patrols were able to track the vehicle using a system installed in the car and it was found on West Avenue at Edinburgh about 3am. 

PolAir was able to locate and follow the vehicle from above.

The Toyota travelled through the northern suburbs before it was dumped on Burton Road at Paralowie and the men ran away from the vehicle.

Police said one of the offenders climbed onto the roof of a house to evade police.

A police cordon was established and the man was eventually arrested.

A 22-year-old man from Hectorville was charged with aggravated robbery, dangerous driving to cause a police pursuit and driving disqualified. 

He did not apply for bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Friday.

Police are working to find the passenger of the car.
