Local businesses revelling after successful Adelaide 500

Local businesses are reaping the rewards of another successful Adelaide 500 Supercars race, with thousands of visitors flocking to the city for the final event on the racing calendar.

Nearly 260,000 spectators came through the gates over four days and tens of thousands stayed for the closing night's Cold Chisel concert.

While slightly below last year's attendance, organisers say the event isn't losing momentum.

"The occupancy for hotels is over 90 per cent, the rev is up over 30 per cent, so fantastic for the economy as well," SA Motorsport CEO Mark Warren said.

Organisers say next year's event promises to be even more spectacular, with the introduction of a new finals series – the grand final of which will be held in Adelaide.

Yesterday it was Red Bull's Will Brown who secured the Supercars championship in a remarkable comeback, and this morning he was full of praise for Adelaide.

"Not only is the track awesome the event is amazing, to finish here you know these grandstands, everyone standing applauding, this event is next to none," he said.

Following Sunday's race, the dismantling of the race track is underway, with Hutt Street and Bartels Road set to reopen by tomorrow morning, and the rest expected to be accessible by Thursday.
