ACTU elects new assistant secretary

The ACTU has unanimously elected a new assistant secretary.

After 16 years at the Transport Workers Union, Scott Connolly will take over from Tim Lyons until elections are held for all officials at its congress in May.

Mr Connolly has worked to improve workplace safety and was involved in the introduction of domestic violence leave, secretary Dave Oliver and president Ged Kearney said in a statement.
