Accused Gold Coast balcony killer Gable Tostee has offered to ban himself from using dating app Tinder in a bid to get bail.

Tostee, 28, was arrested on August 15 a week after New Zealand tourist Warriena Wright plunged to her death from his 14th floor high rise unit in Surfers Paradise.

Ms Wright's death came after the pair met on Tinder and allegedly had a night of heavy drinking and violent sex.

After analysing stored phone calls between the pair in the hours leading up to her death, police say Tostee choked the 26-year-old before locking her on the balcony, telling her he would not let her leave because she had been "a bad girl".

He was charged with murder based on precedent cases where people in fear of their lives died trying to escape.

Tostee has denied the charges.

As well as exiling himself from the popular dating app, as part of his Supreme Court bail application Tostee offered to move in with his parents and quit drinking alcohol.

In opposing bail Director of Public Prosecutions barrister Benedict Power told the court Tostee committed a life-threatening act by "shoving" Ms Wright onto his balcony and blocking her attempts to escape.

Mr Power said Ms Wright had pleaded to be let go, likening it to a person being locked in a car boot "in which they suffocate".

He said Tostee's attempts to clear his name weren't in keeping with his "bizarre indifference" to Ms Wright's "abject terror", and the lengths he took to evade police after her death.

While noting he had shown "no remorse", Justice Debra Mullins said the case was "not in any way a straightforward case of murder".

A decision on bail will be handed down on Wednesday.
