Hero delivery drivers speak out after fending off alleged carjackers with spirit level

Exclusive: Two brave delivery drivers hailed national heroes for fighting off alleged carjackers with a spirit level have told A Current Affair they would do it all again.

Cousins Sahil and Ash, who deliver and install LG products, were taking a break at a Scoresby service station on March 20 when they were allegedly accosted by two young men demanding their vehicle.

"I parked the truck in the bay, I got out," Sahil said.

"The guy came up to me ... asking straight away 'give me the truck keys or you're going to pay for it'."

The pair, who work for Bear Transport Services, fought back.

Sahil said he was struck in the face after refusing to hand over his keys.

"I charged him back," Sahil, who eventually armed himself with a spirit level, said.

"They were racially abusing us.

"That thing completely shocked me to the core."

Video footage of the fight has since gone viral.

Ash said his cousin was being likened to fictional boxer Rocky with memes popping up all over the internet.

"It just completely came out of me, I don't know where it came from," Sahil said.

"I'll thank my gym as well."

The drivers say the community support has been overwhelming, with strangers buying them coffees and asking for selfies.

The bravery of the duo has not gone unnoticed by their bosses either.

Gemma Lemieux from LG Australia met with the pair to gift them $5000 worth of products each as a gesture of appreciation.

Victoria Police confirmed the two young men left the scene but were later apprehended and charged with assault. They will face court at a later date.
