With just a few days before this year's Melbourne Cup carnival kicks off, the who's who of horse racing is touching down in Melbourne.

Shaking off the jetlag, racing presenter Francesca Cumani is bringing her expertise back to Flemington as an international form expert for Nine's coverage of the Melbourne Cup carnival.

The daughter of Italian-born trainer and breeder Luca Cumani, the mum-of-three has travelled with and ridden horses around the world.

Racing presenter Francesca Cumani is bringing her expertise back to Flemington A Current Affair

Cumani's first trip to Flemington was in 2007 with stallion Bauer, who she returned with the next year when he took out second place in the race that stops the nation.

COVID and "a belly out to here" have stopped her from journeying trackside in the last few years, Cumani said she's looking forward to returning to the mounting yard for this year's Spring Racing Carnival.

Speaking to A Current Affair, Cumani revealed she has her sights set on a pair of international geldings to take out the Cup.

"Vauban and Absurde - I think they're two horses that you need to keep an eye on," she said.
