First-time father's hell after head-on crash
They say if you're going through hell, keep going.
That's the only thing first-time parents Jaylen Cook and Mikayla Hansen can do right now.
Ther six-week-old daughter Madeline has spent every second of her precious life inside the neonatal intensive care unit at Mater Mothers' Hospital in Brisbane.
Last weekend Jaylen drove back home to Tweed Heads to work a 12-hour shift as a security guard to keep some income coming in when the unthinkable happened.

First-time father Jaylen was hit head-on by an allegedly stolen car on the way to see his newborn. A Current Affair
He was involved in a head-on crash involving an allegedly stolen vehicle driving down the wrong lane of the Pacific Motorway at 100km/h.
"All of a sudden, out of the pitch black, I saw two headlights coming towards me, there wasn't much time to react," Jaylen said.
Everyone involved in the crash survived but Jaylen was left with bruising, whiplash and fogginess from a head knock.
But his main concern is the added stress for his partner.
"Her role was meant to be seeing to our daughter Madeline but now I feel like a burden to her also because she's had to look after me as well," he said.
