‘Nasty, evil’: Mum’s plea for somebody to ‘lock up’ her teen daughters

A single mum going through hell dealing with her out-of-control daughters says she lives in fear of the girls. 

“Lock them up. Lock them up,” Tammy (last name witheld) said.

“I have come to the end of my tether.”

Tammy has documented her daughters’ daily antics in a shocking video diary she has handed to A Current Affair.

In the vision, the single mum calls out her daughters, Hillary, 14, and Sophie, 16, over their behaviour, and films herself trying to haul her daughters out of bed as they try to avoid school. 

But the confrontations often descend into verbal tirades. 

“‘Why don’t you drive your car into a tree?’ They’ve said that to me. That really hurts,” she said.

“Evil, just evil. Nasty. I don’t like the people they are."

Tammy confronted her girls on camera, telling them: “It’s come to this, whereby, I can’t do this anymore. I can’t do it anymore with you girls not going to school, smoking marijuana.”

The girls soon fled to their rooms, barricading themselves inside there room. Tammy tried barging the door open to make her way into the room with no luck.

John van Ruth, CEO of Operation Flinders, an adventure camp program for at-risk kids, said parents need to focus on making their children feel good in a tough environment for growing up.

“The young people have a huge amount of challenge in their society today compared to what we might have had in our earlier days,” she said.

“And it’s all about helping those young people build their self-esteem.”
