A Brisbane woman with a rare condition that allows her to remember almost every single detail of her life says her earliest recollection is being put in a car when she was less than two weeks old.

Rebecca Sharrock has been diagnosed with Highly Superior Autobiographical Memory (HSAM), which gives her razor sharp recollection skills and an extraordinary ability to retain large amounts of information, reports The Mirror.

“I remember my mum Janet placing me in the driver’s seat of the car, and taking a picture of me when I was 12 days old,” Ms Sharrock said.

“I also re-experience pain – for example, I remember falling over when I was three at my grandparents’ house and grazing my left knee. Talking about it now, I’m getting an echo of the sting in my left knee cap.”

There are less than one hundred known cases of the condition, also known as hyperthymesia, in the world.
