Window cleaners trapped 150m up skyscraper in high winds

Two window-cleaners working on Austria's tallest skyscraper at the weekend were stranded 150 metres off the ground when the platform they were working on slipped to become almost vertical.

The pair was rescued unharmed by emergency teams after an unspecified amount of time stranded outside the builing's 48th storey. More than 30 firefighters attended the scene, their rescue efforts hampered by strong winds.

The rescuers lowered cables to make sure the platform did not fall, then winched the men inside the building, where they left via a ventilation shaft.

They were treated for shock but were otherwise unharmed.
