Water bomber crashes into barge in France

A water bomber fighting fires in Southern France has accidentally hit a barge while scooping up water from a river.

Video of the incident shows two Canadair CL-415 water bombers dipping low to collect the water from the Rhône river earlier this week.

A woman and man can be seen watching on from the deck of the barge which has been moored, while someone in the background can be heard whooping in delight.

One water bomber passes without incident, but the second comes in too close and swipes into the side of the barge with a huge crash.

No one was injured and the damaged plane managed to make it back to its base, where it was grounded, the Malta Times reports.

The water bombers were collecting water to fight a fire in the small village of Collias.
